TTC: How does it work
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is the public transportation agency responsible for operating and
managing the public transit system in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Established in 1921, the TTC is one of
the largest transit systems in North America. It provides a comprehensive network of buses, streetcars,
and subway lines that serve the city and its surrounding areas.
The TTC subway system consists of four lines:
- Line 1 (Yonge-University)
- Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth)
- Line 3 (Scarborough)
- Line 4 (Sheppard)
These subway lines connect major areas of the city and provide a quick and efficient way of commuting. In addition to the subway, the TTC operates a vast bus network that covers various neighborhoods and routes across the city. The bus routes serve as a vital mode of transportation, connecting residential areas, commercial centers, and other key destinations.

In addition to the Presto card, another card that you may need to access TTC services is the TTC Metropass.
The TTC Metropass is a monthly pass that provides unlimited travel on all TTC services, including buses, streetcars,
and subways, for a specific calendar month. It offers convenience for frequent riders and eliminates the need for
purchasing individual tickets or tokens.
With a TTC Metropass, commuters can simply tap their pass on the fare card reader upon entering a TTC vehicle or
station to gain access to the transit services without having to worry about additional fare payments for each trip.
